LOOKNorth, hosted by C-CORE, promotes the use of remote monitoring technologies that can address the information needs of stakeholders engaged in developing northern natural resources.
Remote Sensing Engineer/Scientist
The successful applicant will be involved in developing applications that use remote sensing technologies. LOOKNorth targets applications that support the mining, oil & gas, and hydro-electric sectors in the oil sands and Northern environments.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Science or Engineering with emphasis on optical and hyper spectral or radar remote sensing and be familiar with a range of sensors and satellite platforms.
- Experience in the development of applications in the areas of environmental monitoring, land cover classification, terrain stability, or surficial mapping.
- Experience in signal processing and algorithm development with optical imagery and advanced SAR techniques is desirable.
NOTE: Engineering applicants must be registered or eligible for registration, with the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL).
